Whitley Smith is One of the Best Basketball Players in South Carolina

The South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association has chosen the preseason number one teams in the State, as well as the top 5 male and female senior players from each classification. They will share the results at their annual preseason banquet on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at 12:00 p.m. We are pleased to announce that Lee Central's, Whitley Smith, has been selected as one of the Top Five Senior AA Players in South Carolina. Whitley along with other players from across the State will be recognized at the banquet. We are happy for Whitley and look forward to seeing her in action during the upcoming basketball season.

Lee Central High School's Indigo Burroughs attended the S.C. Governor's School at the Citadel this summer.  According to Jack W. Rhodes, director of the program, Indigo represented Lee Central well and definitely demonstrated her educational ability.  We are proud of Indigo and are confident that she will do well in all of her future endeavors.

Lee Central High School Meets AYP

For the first time in the school's history, Lee Central High School met Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) as part of No Child Left Behind.  To make AYP a school must achieve 13 out of 13 objectives.  Lee Central is the only school in Lee County School District to meet AYP for 2008.  Congratulations to Lee Central High School's students, faculty, and staff on a job well done!

Principal's Message

Greetings from Lee Central High School! As I begin my new role as Principal at Lee Central High School, I want to take a few moments to share with you my vision, and two important goals for Lee Central High School during the 2008-2009 school year.

My vision for Lee Central High School is to develop an environment where students, staff, and parents work together to enhance student achievement and develop a thriving educational center within the community. After analyzing the data from the school report card for the past three years at Lee Central High School, I have developed two goals for the start of this school year. I hope to open lines of communication with Lee Central High School community and facilitate a process that will lead to more parental involvement. My second goal is to work with the entire staff to provide all students with a challenging and rewarding experience, both academically, and through participation in extracurricular activities.

Together, we can make a difference and I hope the start of this school year will be the beginning of a new journey for Lee Central High School. I look forward to working with you to make Lee Central High School a premier high school.

If at any time you should have a question, please feel free to call me at (803)428-4010. Have a terrific year!

Sincerely,
Nathaniel Nelson, Ed. D.
